Photographers can explore and document the following:
  • Fermentation Vats: Photograph the large earthenware vats where the soybeans ferment under the sun, showcasing the unique textures and earthy tones.
  • Artisanal Work: Document the skilled artisans at work, from stirring the vats to quality testing, highlighting the human element of this traditional craft.
  • Ingredients and Tools: Focus on the raw ingredients like soybeans, wheat, and brine, as well as the traditional tools and equipment used in the brewing process.
  • Process Stages: Capture each stage of the production process - from soaking and steaming the soybeans, fermenting them with mold, to the extraction and aging of the sauce.
  • Bottling and Packaging: Photograph the bottling process, where the rich, dark soya sauce is poured into bottles, sealed, and labeled, ready for distribution.

  • Participants would be required to bring their own cameras—any type is welcomed. A limited range of Leica cameras will be available on a first come, first serve basis. 
  • Wear comfortable clothing and footwear that are suitable for walking.
  • Bring notebooks or electronic devices for taking notes.
  • We reserve the right to cancel the workshop if the minimum number of participants is not met. Should this occur, full refunds will be provided.
