Join renowned artist, adventurer and photographer Stuart Robertson for an immersive Masterclass. You'll delve into the art of visual storytelling on the street and the power of an idea. Acclaimed for his photographic projects Peace in 10,000 Hands and Colours of Antarctica. Stuart has travelled to over sixty countries capturing powerful images. 

Stuart’s Leica Singapore Masterclass includes various specialist topics, exclusive learnings and focus points so you can make better images that you visualise and desire. 

In this exclusive Masterclass, Stuart will share his insights on conceptual ideology behind his photography, the importance of narrative, the power of an idea and the techniques he uses to create compelling and evocative images. 

Participants will have the unique opportunity to learn from Stuart's extensive experience, explore his creative processes from over 30 years of professional creative practice. You will gain hands-on experience capturing meaningful photographs that resonate and connect on a deeper level with the viewer.

The essence of this workshop emphasises Stuart Robertson's signature approach to photography that will help other get to creative places they want.

 

What to expect:

 

Incorporating a solid tool box of technique and attention on your story, capturing the moment with a focus on street. Learn the art of storytelling, use of light, style, composition, cityscape and landscape. 

Day One (9am to 5pm)

Introduction to the Masterclass outlining various topics and theory’s including Stuart’s Adjacent Theory

  • Street – The Art of Story
  • Cityscape – The Art of the Frame
  • Street portraiture – The Art of Feeling
  • Hands-on Photo walk – Putting it all into practice, with Stuart on hand to assist and guide
  • Street focus to include, light, pattern, composition, story, feeling, subject and frame.
  • Portraiture. Each attendee will photograph talent holding the red rose.
  • Participants will work with natural light and are guided through a range of different poses and locations to get the images they envisage.
  • Real-life communication and posing of a subject for lighting and background.
  • Making a poem, not a picture.
  • Lunch
  • Image review
  • Street portraiture to emulate the studio in the real world using natural light and found talent!
  • Afternoon conversation on what I pack when traveling
  • Review images from the afternoon street portraiture session
  • Light – The Art of Magic 

Day two (9am to 5pm)

Introduction to the day’s Masterclass with recap of day before

  • Street – The Art of the Moment
  • Other techniques for street and wider photography practices
  • Style – The Art of your Aesthetic
  • Technique – The Art of Discipline
  • Composition – The Art of Balance
  • Lunch
  • Discussion on conceptual foundation, visual balance, observation and anticipation
  • Photo walk – to incorporate all new concepts and ideas
  • Review images

About Stuart Robertson 

Stuart Robertson is an internationally acclaimed Leica photographer, author and adventurer. He has featured as lead story on ’60 Minutes’, in the Huffington Post with various other global media outlets. He is a TEDx speaker, Ilford Gold Master and appeared twice on the Leica blog and has numerous photographic commissions and exhibitions around the world. 

Stuart has led photo workshops across the world plus Leica Masterclass’s in New York, Los Angeles, Queenstown, Melbourne and Sydney. He has also led street photo walks in Hamburg, Havana, New York, Los Angeles, Sydney, Marrakech, Melbourne, Houston, London….

He has authored two books ‘Peace in 10,000 Hands - The First Edition’ and ‘Colours of Antarctica’ with his next ’25 Stories 25 Floors’ out in December. 

Notable people who have chosen Robertson to take their portrait and sit for him include, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Jamie Lee Curtis, Demi Moore, Ringo Starr, Emily Blunt, Serena Williams, Danny Devito, Nadya Hutagalung and many more. His social media following is over half a million. He has two of his own art galleries, Auckland and the other in Queenstown New Zealand.

Robertson is a career creative founding many businesses including advertising agencies, experiential and event companies, furniture design, production companies, he has created and designed for companies and brands including McLaren, Vodafone, Heineken, International Rugby Board, Ford, Mazda, Honda, SKY TV, Air New Zealand, BMW

His career started onstage as a magician, pickpocket and stand-up comedian. He has followed his creative dreams and passions ever since leading to a career as a photographer and story teller. Now he wants to share with you his insights and experiences so you can create your own path of creative brilliance.
