LEICA GALERIE

Leica Camera shares a passion for and a love of creative photography of the highest standards with many people around the world – that’s why making such works and their creators accessible to people with this passion has always been important to Leica. For decades now, and for this precise reason, Leica has offered both prominent Leica photographers and emerging new talents an opportunity to present their work to a wider audience. The Leica galleries were conceived as the ideal forum for this purpose.

The tradition of the Leica Galleries goes back to the 1970s. The first Leica Gallery was founded in Wetzlar in 1976 and currently resides in the headquarters of Leica Camera AG. Further galleries were to follow, and today, Leica Galleries are found in many parts of the world, including Singapore.

UTSAV - INDIA IN CELEBRATION

17 May 2025 - 30 Jun 2025 | Laxmi Kaul

The exhibition ‘Utsav – India in Celebration’ showcases the evocative work of documentary photographer Laxmi Kaul (@laxmikaul), capturing the transcendent energy and vibrant colours of India’s living traditions. Shot with her Leica, this collection invites viewers into the heart of sacred rituals, seen through the lens of a woman whose perspective blends sensitivity, depth, and clarity. Through her lens, three sacred traditions come to life —the surging river of humanity at Kumbh Mela, the jubilant devotion of Vrindavan Holi, and the fiery trance of Theyyam. These photographs are more than frozen moments —they are invitations into a world where every gesture, every hue, and every ritual carries the weight of centuries of belief and celebration.

A Short Tale of Syria

SINGING IN THE DARK

7 Nov 2022 - 16 Apr 2023 | KC Eng and members of Red Photos

It is more than just about the opera, the performers and the props involved. It is the incorporeal embodiment of tradition that we must treasure today, fading as it will with time’s arrow. It is also an emblem of the altruistic spirit of dedicating oneself wholeheartedly to something without expecting much materially in return. This photo exhibition holds and passes on that shimmering trove to the audience, in hope that the persistence of its memory may yet still gleam farther down in the sands of time, before its final vanishment under a shroud of oblivion.

Highrise Urbanscape

4 Mar - 9 May 2025 | Richard Ong

Singapore’s compact size of 750 sq km makes vertical growth essential.

Since the 1960s, HDB (Housing Development Board) has built high-rise public housing, evolving from 10-storey blocks to today’s 50-storey buildings. Private developers also maximize space with high-rise offices, hotels, and residences. This photo exhibition captures Singapore’s skyline, showcasing towering structures from hotels to residential blocks.

All images were taken with Leica SL, M10D, and M11D cameras using Leica R, SL, and M lenses.

Richard’s passion for Math and Science led him to study engineering and work in the semiconductor industry. Before an overseas training trip, he bought his first digital camera, using weekends to explore and photograph new places. His love for photography deepened, especially after purchasing a film camera in France. Now, he always carries a camera, believing in capturing serendipitous moments. While his engineering background gives him a methodical approach, he values creativity and spontaneity in crafting compelling images.

About KC Eng

Many years ago – after my national service - I decided to see the world through the camera lens. This bridge between science and art, brings both worlds to a common denominator in my search fora unified vision in time, space and structure. For now, I write stories in visual language where prose and poetry require no transcription. My trusty Leica facilitates the 'taking', whilst I do the 'giving', to transform and transcend ordinary reality, bringing subjective order into objective chaos. In a domain undictated by formula, I turn to myself with my conscience speaking, writing and singing in the language of light and time.
