This workshop, led by accomplished photographer Adam Seow, will explore the art and techniques of capturing stunning black and white images and transform your creative vision into powerful images. Experience the power and timeless beauty of black and white photography.

Topics covered include:

  • Explore the concept and artistic merits of black and white photography.
  • Compare monochrome and color sensors, understand dynamic range, and benefits of monochrome sensors.
  • Analyze unique characteristics, master characteristic curves, and utilize light for better exposure.
  • Work with ambient light, manage characteristic curves during shoots, and learn post-processing techniques.
  • Incorporate flash, design light and shadow, and use advanced editing for compelling compositions.

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced photographer, this workshop will equip you with the knowledge and techniques to capture timeless and evocative monochrome images with the Leica camera.

A limited range of Leica monochrome cameras will be available on a first come, first serve basis. 

Who should attend:

Anyone who is interested in monochrome photography and ideally have a basic understanding of composition and exposure triangle. 

For those who would like to learn more about the exposure triangle, you are encouraged to attend the Fundamentals Workshop prior to signing up for this workshop.

Price:

Price includes instructor's fees. All other expenses, if any, including lunch to be borne by participants.

Pax Limit:

A minimum of 5 participants is required to conduct the workshop, with a maximum capacity of 7 participants. Leica Store Singapore retains the right to reschedule the workshop. In the event of workshop cancellation, participants will receive refunds in accordance with the policy.

Things to note:

  • All cameras are welcome. A limited range of Leica monochrome cameras will be available on a first come, first serve basis. 
  • Bring along a laptop with Adobe Lightroom installed. Participants may download a 30-day trial version where necessary. If you have trouble installing the software, kindly inform us at akademie.lcap@leica-camera.com at least one day prior to the workshop.

After completing his photography studies at the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California, and Bob's Werling Zone System Photography, Adam Seow founded his own commercial photography studio, catering to both international and local advertising agencies. With an experience spanning more than three decades, Adam's photography journey began with film before embracing the digital realm. Alongside his professional endeavors, he has shared his expertise as a part-time instructor at One Academy and has conducted workshops on the Black and White Zone System. His extensive commercial portfolio has acquainted him with the intricacies of employing both strobe and continuous lighting. In addition to his commercial ventures, Adam occasionally delves into studio still life, Hollywood-style portraits, and fashion photography.
