In its era, the Leica Noctilux 50mm f/1.0 was the fastest lens in photography. The lens was a replacement of the earlier Leica Noctilux 50mm f/1.2 aspherical (1966-1975), which was the world's first production aspherical camera lens.
Produced in 1976 - 2008, the lens had three cosmetics versions with the same optics and up to 1 meter focus.
