Celebrating World Photography Day with Leica

Every story begins somewhere.
For Leica, it begins here.

The first photograph taken with the Ur-Leica by Oskar Barnack in 1913,
overlooking Eisenmarkt in Wetzlar, Germany—where the Leica story began.

For over a century, Leica has called Wetzlar, Germany home. It was here that Oskar Barnack developed the Ur-Leica, beginning a legacy that transformed the way generations would see, capture and remember the world. Today, every photographer has a different story, yet we all share one thing in common: a place, a person or a moment we call home.

Open Call: Share the Story You Call Home

This World Photography Day, Leica Singapore invites you to join The Stories We Call Home. Throughout August, six photographers from the Leica community will share the photographs and stories that define what home means to them. Together, they remind us that home is more than a place—it can be found in the people we love, the communities we belong to and the everyday moments that shape our lives. Now, we'd love to hear your story.
