How Leica Framed My Story of Love, Family, and J.renaissance

There are certain names that become milestones in our lives. For me, one of those names is Leica. My journey with this iconic brand is not just about cameras; it is a story interwoven with love, family, and the birth of my creative identity.
My introduction to Leica came through my husband, Alex. A professional photographer with an unwavering passion for his craft, Alex has always seen the world through a distinct lens. After we got married, he took a leap of faith, leaving his job to establish his own media company—a venture that has now thrived for fifteen years. His dedication and artistic eye have deeply influenced my perspective on life. I first learned about Leica as the pinnacle of camera engineering, a brand synonymous with excellence. I still vividly remember our early travels together, Alex carrying a film Leica, capturing moments that would become our most treasured memories. The soft click of the shutter became the soundtrack of our adventures.
Our bond with Leica deepened in such a profound way that it inspired the most personal decision we could make: we named our first daughter Leica. To us, it was more than a brand name; it was a phonetic embodiment of "to be loved." It was the blessing we wanted to bestow upon her—a life filled with love, beauty, and timeless moments.
My own story took a new turn two years ago when I founded J.renaissance, my jewelry and accessories brand. The name represents a rebirth of spirit, with a mission built on freedom, love, and a sense of belonging. My deepest desire is to empower women to exist beautifully on their own terms, free from traditional constraints. In this journey of creation—whether designing a new piece or hosting a workshop to share the craft—Leica has been my silent partner. It has documented every step of my growth.
One of the most meaningful journeys was taking my Leica to Toba, the hometown of Kokichi Mikimoto and the birthplace of cultured pearls. There, surrounded by the serene waters and the legacy of respecting nature’s creations, I learned to truly honor life and the unique beauty of every single pearl. My Leica was there, capturing the essence of that pilgrimage and the evolution of my brand, frame by frame.
Now, years after I first learned about Leica through Alex’s eyes, I find myself looking through the viewfinder with my own vision. The初心, or "original heart," remains unchanged. With Leica in my bag, recording the delicate details of my jewelry and the milestones of my life, I continue to walk forward, one beautiful frame at a time.
