For us, the city has always been more than a backdrop. It is a living archive of stories waiting to be discovered. As twin sisters and founders of Binary Style, we have spent years exploring Singapore through the lens of architecture, heritage, and design.
Our work transforms these everyday discoveries into bold silk scarves and lifestyle pieces that celebrate the layered culture of the city. As women building our own creative path, we have always believed in telling stories that might otherwise be overlooked. Photography feels like a natural extension of that idea — another way for us to observe, document, and share the world through our own perspective.
The Leica Q was not our very first experience with a Leica camera, but what surprised us immediately was how natural it felt to use. The camera is incredibly intuitive and simple to pick up, allowing us to focus on what we see rather than how to operate it. For two people who spend most of our time walking the streets, observing details and gathering inspiration, this simplicity made all the difference.
Every image we captured felt like a small fragment of Singapore. A moment, a colour, a gesture that reflects the spirit of the city we love. In many ways it mirrors the way we approach our designs. Noticing the ordinary and discovering the extraordinary within it.
Using the Leica Q for the first time did more than help us document our journey. It opened a new way of seeing the city. And as women who believe in sharing stories and perspectives through creativity, that felt especially fitting. Because sometimes the most powerful way to celebrate where we come from is simply to observe, capture, and share it with others.
